I am on a roll :-)

I have done this weeks Daring Cardmakers dare and their 'little extra' from last week too - better late than never.

The 'extra' card was a recipe card - 7 brads or eyelets, 6 flowers and 5 letters. I made it using a crayon resist technique to keep some areas really white.

This weeks Dare is "Heavy Metal" - use metal to embellish your card. I used real watch parts and a VERY male watch image to make my card.

The In's and Outs of Blogs

I have been reading a LOT of blogs recently - it is like I am trying to catch up with the rest of the planet after trying so long to resist it.

Anyway I have discovered something I dislike about blogs - music. I am happily surfing between the virtual lives of others, enjoying getting to know a bit more about them and considering adding them to my "Blog's I Read" list when suddenly, out of nowhere, a blast of sound comes at me at twice the volume I would ever have the volume set to and they are automatically off my BIR list! Don't get me wrong - I am happy that you enjoy listening to XYZ but let's keep it that way - I enjoy silence (please shoot me when I catch up with the planet on this one and consider adding sound)

But something I read and I could really connect with was to get stuff done you have to get off the PC and just go do it. Now please forgive me I can't remember where I read it now - as I said I've been reading A LOT of blogs this week - and this is not a direct quote but I am often pondering the fact that I never seem to have enough time to get stuff done and 5pm races around so fast and yet there is still so much on my To Do List. Perhaps I need to try this - just get off the PC.
Bye

Just trying something new. I created this little 'Chick" at http://blessthischick.com/
She's pretty cute even if I do say so myself :-)

I've finally done a Dare!

Wow I have finally managed to take part in the Daring Card Makers dare for the week! I have been following the blog for a few months now as my friend Keryn is in their design team and have been thinking "I really must give it a go" and now I have found the time and inspiration to do so.
The dare is "Through the Round Window" creating a card with an aperture (hole in it) Here is my effort.

It is a shaker card filled with coloured hearts and the message stamped in the window is "With Love" (it is obscured by all those hearts!)

Of course I am killing two birds with one stone and I will use this as DH's Valentines card. It is a VERY busy card making time of year for me and I cannot afford to just makes cards for the sake of it :-) Both children, DH and 9 of our friends have birthdays as well as our Wedding Anniversary and Valentines day all in January and February. Not that I am complaining really but some weeks the pressure is on. I could just choose a card from my 'stack' I guess but I really like to make personalised cards if I can.

I really hope that DH doesn't read my blog - I don't even know if he knows about it - lets hope not as what I am about to tell you is top secret. It will be our 10th wedding anniversary this week and I have spent the last two years working on an album of our love including the dates we went on and our wedding day and our kids and loved ones. I am pleased I started so long ago as I am still not quite finished but I am pretty confident of finishing it in time. I'll let you know what he thinks.

Anyway this is getting out of control

Happy New Year

Wow - Happy New Year and all of that. It has been a rather uneventful start, we are back from our holidays and the kids are getting a bit sick of each others company.

Just one more week and then Miss M will start at kindergarten and then a week later the C Man starts back at school. 4 whole hours to myself each day (who am I kidding) I am going to go for a walk each day and then come home and craft to my little hearts content. That is going to be "MY TIME" no cleaning, cooking, minute writing, planning or any thing.

The thing I am most looking forward to in that time (which is really scaring me) is the going for a walk. I am even considering going down the hill and then (obviously) back up which will be quite a bit tougher than going up first as both the distance and especially the gradient are greater.

Of course all that time to create is also very exciting .... I'll keep you posted.
